OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE

1 3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. oats
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. gran. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbl. cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. (12 oz.) chocolate chips
3/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
Oven 350*; greased 9x13 pan.
In large bowl, pour water over oats; let stand 10 minutes. Add sugars and butter; stir to melt butter. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
Sift together flour, soda, cocoa and salt; add to batter. Stir in HALF the chocolate chips. Pour batter into pan and top with remaining chips and nuts. Bake about 40 minutes.
