    1/3 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 cup milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    Cream shortening, sugar, salt and eggs together. Beat until light and soft. Mix and sift flour and baking powder; add to the first mixture alternately with the milk. Add vanilla. Beat thoroughly and pour into well greased shallow baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. When partly cool, dust with powdered sugar; cut into squares and serve while warm.
