Veal and Mushroom Casserole

750g (1 1/2lb) veal steaks
1/4 cup plain flour
salt and pepper
30g (1oz) butter
1 clove crushed garlic
1 tbls Dijon mustard
1 cup cream
1/2 cup white wine
1 tbls chopped fresh thyme
1 cup chicken stock
375 g button mushrooms, halved
Trim meat of excess fat and cut into strips. Toss meat in a plastic bag with seasoned flour then shake of any excess flour. Heat butter and garlic in a pan. Add meat and cook quickly in small batches over med heat until well browned.
Return all meat back to pan; add mustard, cream, white wine, chopped thyme and chicken stock. Bring mixture to boil and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the mushrooms and cook for another 15 mins, or until meat is quite tender.
Delicious served with pasta and steamed veges.
