Stewed Shrimp

    2 tbsp. butter
    1 tbsp. flour
    2 onions,fine chopped
    2 pounds peeled shrimp
    1 3/4 cups canned tomatoes
    1 cup water
    1 green pepper, diced
    1/2 tsp thyme
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp garlic salt
    Salt and pepper

    Melt butter, add flour gradually, cook to a light brown. Add onions and cook golden. Add shrimp and mix well. Let cool slightly, add tomatoes, water, green pepper, and seasoning. Cool, stirring frequently, for 10 minutes. Serve over rice.
