ROMAN APPLE CAKE

    1 C SHORTNING 2 EGGS
    1 C SUGAR 1 C BUTTERMILK
    1/2 C BROWN SUGAR

    2 1/2 C FLOUR 1 TEA BAKING POWDER
    1/2 TEA SALT 2 TEA CINNAMON
    1 TEA BAKING SODA 2 C APPLES-DICED

    Cream shortning & sugars. Add eggs & beat well. Add dry ingredients & buttermilk alternatly. Fold in apples.
    Pour into greased 9x13 pan.

    Top with:

    1/2 C SUGAR
    1 TEA CINNAMON
    2/3 C CHOPPED NUTS

    Mix & sprinkle on top of cake.

    Bake at 325 for 45-60 mins or till done.

    Not sure where this recipe came from, but it's always been a favorite.
