Orange Crullers

    1 pkg dry yeast
    1/4 cup warm water
    3/4 cup warm milk
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1/4 cup sugar
    1 tsp salt
    2 eggs, beaten
    4 cups flour
    oil for frying

    glaze:
    2 cups powdered sugar
    3 tbls orange juice
    1 tsp grated orange peel

    In a bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add milk, butter, sugar, salt and eggs, mix. Beat in 2 cups of flour til smooth. Place in a greased bowl, turn once. Cover and let rise til double. Punch down, divide in half. On floured surface, roll out into a 18"X9" rectangle, cut into 3/4" strips. Fold each in half lengthwise and twist several times. Pinch the ends. Place on greased cookie sheets. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise til almost double. In a deep fat fryer heat oil to 375F. Fry a few at a time til golden, turning with a slotted spoon. Drain. Combine glaze ingredients, brush over warm crullers. Makes 3 dozen.
