Nectarine Berry Cobbler

    2/3 cup sugar
    2 tsp cornstarch
    2 large nectarines, cut in pieces
    2 cup blackberries or raspberries
    1 cup flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    5 tbls cold butter, cut into bits
    1/2 cup milk
    1/4 cup sliced almonds

    Preheat oven to 400F. Stir together sugar and cornstarch. Add fruit and mix well.

    In another bowl whisk flour, baking powder, and salt, add butter. Blend until it resembles coarse meal and stir in milk til just combined.

    In a buttered dish spread fruit then drop dough on in mounds. Sprinkle on almonds and bake 20 minutes, or until top is golden. Serves 4.
