German Goulash

    1 lb. stew beef
    1/2 C chopped onion
    1/2 lb. sliced mushrooms
    2-3 chopped garlic cloves
    2 tbsps. olive oil
    1 can beef broth + 1 can water
    1 sm can tomatoe sauce
    1/4 C vinegar/red wine
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    2-3 bay leaves

    Brown beef in olive oil; add onion, garlic and mushrooms browning until onions are opaque or lightly browned. Add broth, water, tomatoe sauce,
    vinegar/wine and spices. Salt & Pepper to taste.
    Simmer for about 1 hour. Serve over wide egg noodles or home made spaetzel.
