Some people call these 'whoopie pies' or 'moon pies'...we just call them GOOD!

    4 c. flour
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. cocoa (dry)
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. solid shortening
    2 eggs
1 c. sour milk OR buttermilk
    1 c. boiling water

    Oven 450*, (450* is correct).

Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, salt and cocoa; set aside.

In large mixing bowl, cream together sugar, shortening and eggs. Add sour milk (or buttermilk) and water; add dry ingredients.

On very lightly greased cookie sheets, place 1 level tablespoon of dough for each cookie, about 3 inches apart.

Bake 5 minutes, (5 minutes is correct, also!) Remove to racks to cool, then fill with the following filling:

5 Tbl. flour (I like to use Wondra for these, but regular, all-purpose will work fine)
    1 c. milk
    1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. shortening or softened margarine
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla

In a 2-quart saucepan, mix flour and milk and cook till thick; cool completely.

To cooled flour mixture, beat in powdered sugar, shortening, salt and vanilla till fluffy. Spread on 1 cookie, top with another cookie.

Wrap each cookie in plastic wrap and store in freezer until ready to eat! (You'll be VERY lucky to find any left for when YOU want one!)
