Creamed Leeks (Shaunas)

These are becoming an annually requested item for Christmas Dinner... very tasty!
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 large leeks cut crosswise into 1/2 inch slices.
1/2 cup of heavy cream
1/3 cup of canned chicken broth.
Freshly grated nutmeg to taste.
White pepper to taste.
Melt the butter in a large heavy skillet over moderate heat.
Add the leeks and stir.
Add cream and broth
Bring mixture to the boil, then cook over moderate heat for about 10-15
mins. until mixture is thickened. Stir occasionally.
Season to taste.
