1 tbls ghee or oil
2 onions, sliced
4 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp paprika
1 tbls ground cumin
1 tbls ground coriander
880g (1 lb 12 2/3 oz) can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
440g (14 oz) can chopped tomatoes
1 tsp garam masala
1. Heat ghee/oil in pan. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring, until onion is soft. Add chilli powder, salt, turmeric, paprika, cumin and coriander. Cook, stirring, for 2-3 mins.
2. Stir in chickpeas and tomato. Simmer, covered, over low heat for 20 mins, stirring occasionally.
3. Stir in garam masala. Cimmer, covered, for a further 10 mins. Serve as part of an Indian meal.
