Hawaii cook wins $25,000 at 45th National Chicken Cooking Contest

Being creative in the kitchen can reap big rewards. Just ask Kristine Snyder of Kihei, Hawaii, the $25,000 grand prize winner in the 45th National Chicken Contest held recently in Baltimore, Md.
Fifty-one state finalists competed for prizes at the semi-annual cookoff. Virginia Anthony, 66, of Jacksonville represented the state of Florida and came in fifth place. Anthony won $1,000 for her Guava-Sauced Chicken over Beans and Rice.
There is a website called recipecontest.com which lists all of the recipe contests, if you would like to submit your favorite recipe and possibly earn some fabulous prize money.
The next National Chicken Contest which will be held in two years and will feature a $100,000 cash prize for the best chicken recipe. That should give you enough time to develop some really great chicken recipes.
