It's during the holiday season in South Florida that I long for home. Home for me is the Midwest. It's where I spent my childhood and teen years. I recently visited Ohio where I attended college and have friends and family. My visit included a lovely night at Murphin Ridge Inn, a Bed and Breakfast in West Union, located on 142 acres on the edge of the Appalachian foothills not far from the farmland of an Amish settlement. The spotless Inn was approximately 70 miles from Cincinnati. I stayed in an air-conditioned log cabin with a remote control fireplace where I enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature instead of the sounds of the city.
Innkeepers, Darryl and Sherry served up some of the best country cooking I've tasted in a long time. I requested some of the Inn's recipes and they happily gave them to me.
So, I am sharing them with you in this week's food column. Enjoy these tasty homemade recipes from Ohio!
